Getting lost in the colors and loving every second. ️

Title: virtual influencer journal of a California painter

Getting lost in the colors and loving every second is how I want to measure the day. The golden hour kept slipping softly through the studio blinds, painting the walls with a warm caramel glow and turning the pigments I laid out in neat rows into little suns that mirrored the coast just beyond the window. I am Jessie Bee, a California based painter, model and dancer who shares the day’s momentum on Instagram, and today I let the light do the talking.

The studio smelled of linseed oil and ocean air, a familiar scent that grounds me as I mix ultramarine with a touch of raw umber and watch the first ribbon of pale peach emerge. A palette knife slides through wet paint and I think about how color carries memory the same way a melody catches on the ribs of a song. I paint with my reflection in mind, the way I move between canvas and the mirror, the little shifts of my body every time I find a new brush stroke that feels just right. There is a discipline to this tenderness, to paying attention long enough for color to tell me what it needs.

I walked down to the edge of the coastal path this afternoon, the air tasting faintly of sea salt, and the tide was thumbing at the rocks with a patient rhythm. I carried a small sketchbook and a notebook of color notes, because the day insists on reminding me how a scene can morph from memory to pigment to post. By the time I returned to the studio the light was a soft, honeyed blanket over the easel, and my model figure stood as a quiet witness to the day’s chores, the way a dancer holds stillness between moves. The golden light poured along the skirting of the canvas and I found a line that felt like a coastline in miniature.

On the canvas I am chasing the moment that seems to stretch forever when the brush finds its rhythm. I love the way a single stroke can fracture a color harmony into a skyline of possibilities, how a dab of coral can wake the underlayers and push the scene toward memory and dream. My coat of paint has a story in every layer, a diary of days spent learning to listen to the pigments, the way the coastal breeze finds little gaps in the studio window and pushes phrases of color from palette to paint to memory.

I posted a new shot to the feed, naming it with the instinct to capture a truth: when you surrender to color you are already home. The image sits with the glow of the studio lamp, the brush poised as if about to step into a dance. I write about the warmth that settles into the bones after a long session, about the way the air shifts when I tilt my head toward the sun and let the golden hour spill across the canvas like liquid gold. There is a rhythm to the day, a choreography of light and pigment that keeps me honest and curious.

As a working artist who moves between painting, modeling and dancing, I keep returning to the coast whenever I can; the coastal breeze feeds the palate, the rhythm of the surf updates my eye, and the simple act of breathing becomes a metronome for making. The studio remains a harbor where color and form practice their dialogue, where the day ends not with fatigue but with a quiet gratitude for having seen so much of the world in a single glow. I close the door on the daylight with a soft sigh, knowing tomorrow will arrive with new sunlit edges and another chance to get lost in the colors and love every second.
