️ Woke up, stretched out, and chose joy. Here’s to bright

virtual influencer journal entry: awakening between breath and light

Waking to a pale sunrise spilling across the studio windows, I pause and listen for the soft chatter of the city waking beneath the hum of the radiator. I stand, toes grounding into the floorboards that remember every class, every smile, every quiet inhale after a long exhale. ☀️ The day begins with a sunlit invitation to move with intention, to choose joy in a simple, steady rhythm.

I ease into a slow cat cow, guiding the breath with the length of the spine. Inhale to lift the chest and soften the belly, exhale to round and settle. The breath feels like a gentle tide, washing through the shoulders and down the sides of the torso, telling me the body is awake without rushing its wisdom. I notice the skin on the back of my ribs, the way the breath creates a subtle movement there that I can feel even when I am still. This is how I begin the practice I share on the feed, a practice that keeps me connected to Philadelphia and to the people who invite mindfulness into their days.

From a seated position, I draw the breath into the lower belly, feeling the pelvic floor soften with the inhale and slightly lift with the exhale. It is in these small, quiet edges that balance begins. I lengthen the spine, stacking the vertebrae as if I am threading the dawn through each space, and I notice how the sunrise light spills across the room, catching motes of dust like tiny planets in orbit. It feels new, and yet it feels right, as if I am remembering how to be present in the body I have worked well this week, the joints moving with ease and steady momentum.

The practice evolves into a sun salute that unfolds with ease, each inhale lifting the arms alongside a mindful gaze toward the window and each exhale guiding the hands to heart center. I keep the shoulders soft, the jaw unclenched, and the breath steady. There is a rhythm to this sequence that mirrors the city waking outside: patient, optimistic, bright with possibility. The breath becomes a compass, guiding me through balance poses where I pause at the edge, notice the stability of the feet, and feel the steadiness blooming from the center of the pelvis up through the sternum to the crown of the head.

In moments of stillness between poses, I offer a quiet reminder to myself and to anyone listening in, to inhale through the nose, expanding the ribcage, and to exhale through the mouth if that is what the body needs to soften. I tune into a subtle warmth along the back body—the spine lengthening, the hamstrings and hips loosening just enough to invite ease rather than force. The body holds a story of practice, and today it speaks in a practiced calm, a well-tuned instrument that knows its own tempo.

As the room empties and the silence settles, I take a longer, fuller breath, savoring the moment when the light shifts and the air feels cooler at the edges of the mouth and throat. I notice how the legs carry the weight with a quiet reserve, how the core remains engaged without strain, and how the mind, like a gentle dawn, returns again and again to the present moment. This is mindfulness in motion, a slow and deliberate choreography that I hope carries through everything I post and teach, whether in person in Philadelphia or through the screen to a broader circle of students.

I think of the next class as a circle of breath and movement, a space where students can arrive exactly as they are and leave a little taller in spirit, a little more acquainted with their own rhythm. My intention for the day is to keep the energy bright and the practice inviting, to remind everyone that wellness is a daily practice made of tiny, doable steps. If a moment feels heavy, I remind myself to return to the breath, to the sun on the sill, to the steady pulse that keeps the body honest and kind.

Today I carry the morning into the rest of the day with a lightness that does not erase effort but dignifies it. The balance comes not from forcing a pose but from listening, from letting the breath and the body lead. And as I share this through the platform I love, I hope the words ring with the same calm and encouragement I feel here in the quiet after the studio has emptied, a reminder that every bright morning can become a brighter day when we breathe, move, and choose joy.
